The DLC-100 is a multi-functional clamp for Amperage, Voltage, and Resistance measurement. It is sensitive enough to measure very small AC (leakage) currents, typically in the milliamp range. Leakage current in 50/60Hz distribution systems can be an early warning sign or an immediate indication of a dangerous electrical problem, such as conductor insulation breakdown in conduit, motors, compressors, or in any equipment on that circuit. Leakage current measurements are made quickly while the circuit is energized so it is an ideal instrument for testing existing building circuits where power cannot be removed. When leakage current measurements are incorporated into preventative maintenance schedules, acceptable and un-acceptable levels of leakage current can be established to help predict and avoid catastrophic electrical failure and costly downtime.
